Applying for Residencies, Grants and Fellowships

A Presentation for Writers

All writers require two things in order to do their creative work—time and space. Residencies, grants and fellowships can provide just that—a room of one’s own, space to work, and, depending on the program, meals and/or a stipend. Many immerse you in a community of dedicated artists. All offer the chance to get outside your regular process and see your work in a new light. A writer’s dream.

Not surprisingly, applications for these opportunities are competitive. This session will offer tips and advice about applying from a writer who has done so successfully—and served on the jury for two residencies: Ox-Bow School of Art and the Millay Colony for the Arts.
