How to Listen So That Your Books Will Talk

  • Glickman Family Library Portland, Maine (map)

An IN-PERSON Children’s Book Workshop

ALL LEVELS

Are you writing for young people? Are you searching for the true heart of story? In this workshop, the focus will be on prompts designed to help you find out the path your project wishes to take. Whether you are working on a picture book, a chapter book, or a young adult novel, come ready to listen to your book in progress, or perhaps to catch a brand new idea.

For the workshop’s opening activity, it is essential that you bring a photo of the child or teen you once were (or, if this is not possible, a photo of a beloved young person whom you know well). If you have a favorite children’s book, please bring this, too.

Come prepared to write, write, write.

+ PLEASE NOTE This workshop will occur in-person at USM in Portland Maine. The week of the workshop, students will be emailed the exact location of the class.
