Elder Lore: Writing Poems That Honor Our Histories

This workshop is full. Please email programs@mainewriters.org to be added to the waiting list.

An ONLINE Poetry Workshop

ALL LEVELS

What does it mean to write our truths now that we are in the second half of our lives? How have other poets written about their histories and memories in vivid and unexpected ways? What tools, resources and poetic forms can we employ to help develop and strengthen our unique voices and narratives? In this four hour long, generative class designed for poets over the age of 40, we will read and write poems that explore our histories and imagine our futures–poems that root and wing. This class will be similar to the class “Late, the Sweet Bird Sang” but will include all new anchor poems and writing prompts. Join other writers of all levels, all over the age of 40, in a unique class which honors and values the wisdom and experiences of older writers while offering a nurturing environment in which taking risks will be encouraged.

+ PLEASE NOTE This workshop will occur ONLINE. The week of the workshop, attendees will be emailed the zoom link to enter the class.
