Crafting Fiction, Element by Element

A 7-Week Online Fiction Workshop

Mondays: June 3 - July 15 | 6-8 pm

Let’s demystify fiction writing! By working through basic craft elements of fiction, participants will build a strong foundation for their writing—be it stories or novels. This 7-week course will explore elements one at a time and ask participants to practice them through in-class exercises. Reading published fiction by Lauren Groff, Gish Jen, Alice McDermott, and Kevin Moffett, among others, will also help us understand how writers regularly employ these elements. You’ll also begin to put the elements together as you start a story. You’ll leave the workshop with the tools you need to write wonderful, authentic fiction.

+ PLEASE NOTE This workshop will occur ONLINE via Zoom. Students do not need to create an account to participate, but should test out Zoom before their class if they are first-time users. The week of the workshop, students will be emailed a link that they may click to enter the class.
