An Online Q&A Session
In this online Q&A session, Kneerim & Williams agent Lucy Cleland will answer writers’ burning questions about the role of literary agents, the querying process, and the publishing industry.
After registering, attendees will receive an email with instructions on submitting up to two questions. Cleland will select and answer as many questions as possible during the session.
Please note: MWPA cannot guarantee that every registered attendee’s questions will be addressed; however, Cleland will choose a range of beginning and advanced questions to address, and attendees are sure to leave with valuable information.
PLEASE NOTE: This Q&A session will occur online, using the video meeting platform Zoom, which means attendees may participate from the comfort of their own homes (or anywhere with a reliable, fast internet connection). On May 26, attendees will be emailed a link that they may click to enter the session. Attendees will not need to create a Zoom account to participate, however it will be necessary to download the software, and attendees are strongly advised to do so in advance of the session. The presenter and MWPA staff do not have the capacity offer any tech support either before or during the session.
REQUIRED EQUIPMENT: A reliable, fast internet connection (broadband wired or wireless (3G or 4G/LTE), speakers & a microphone (built-in or USB plug-in), and a webcam (built-in or USB plug-in).

Lucy Cleland is a literary agent and the dramatic rights manager at Kneerim & Williams, where she works with both new and established authors on a range of projects from groundbreaking “big idea” nonfiction to select upmarket fiction and children’s titles. A Southern transplant to Boston, Lucy graduated magna cum laude from Wellesley College where she studied English and studio art. She lives in Cambridge.

For this free-to-members Q&A session, members may register by selecting the appropriate option below. Members are asked to register only if they are reasonably certain they will be able to attend, since this session is limited to 50 attendees; if they must cancel, they are asked to notify Hannah Perry at hannah@mainewriters.org. Within a week of registering, attendees will receive an email with instructions on submitting up to two questions. On May 26, registered attendees will receive a link to enter the session.

For this Q&A session, nonmembers may register by purchasing a space below. Registration is nonrefundable, with no exceptions; attendees are asked to notify Hannah Perry at hannah@mainewriters.org if they need to cancel. Within a week of registering, attendees will receive an email with instructions on submitting up to two questions. On May 26, registered attendees will receive a link to enter the session.
UPDATE: Please note that if you register for this Q&A session on or after May 22, you will not be able to submit questions in advance. There may or may not be a little time at the end of the session for live questions; if there is, questions from attendees who did not have a chance to submit in advance will be prioritized.
