mwpa-logo-2017-01The MWPA is proud to offer a wide varitey of scholarships and fellowships, ranging from free attendance to MWPA workshops (members-only) to the Dibner Fellowships for attending MWPA writing retreats (all Maine residents) to the Macklin Scholarship for Young Maine Writers (high school students). All MWPA scholarships and fellowships are awarded on a mix of need and merit.


MWPA Scholarships 

Provides for MWPA members to attend various workshops throughout the year.  More →

Provides one-year of MWPA membership and attendance fees for two workshops.  More →

Martin Dibner Memorial Fellowships for Maine Writers

Provides full funding to attend the MWPA’s autumn Harvest Writers Retreat or spring Black Fly Writers Retreat, and is open to all Maine residents.  More →

Macklin Scholarship for Young Maine Writers

Provides for two Maine high school students, one boy and one girl, to attend the Longfellow Young Writers’ Workshop each July at the University of Maine at Farmington.  More →

Ilgenfritz Scholarships 

Provides one scholarship for a female high school student living in Waldo or Knox counties to attend the Longfellow Young Writers’ Workshop at the University of Maine at Farmington, and a second scholarship for a female writer 18+ living in Waldo or Knox counties to attend the Slice Literary Writers’ Conference in Brooklyn, New York.  More →

Slice Literary Writers’ Conference Scholarship

Provides three full scholarships to MWPA members to attend the Slice Literary Writers’ Conference in downtown Brooklyn, New York.  More →

Graves Library Writer-in-Residence

Provides one writer living in Kennebunkport, Kennebunk, or Arundel with a private writing room at the Louis T. Grave Memorial Public Library.  More →
