An autobiographical poem can be an illuminating mirror. In it, writers can use the eyes of the imagination to see themselves as they are, as they were, and as perhaps they wish to be.

In this one-day workshop, students will explore various strategies for writing poems that turn life experiences into art. Students will read and discuss exemplary poems in this genre by poets such as Sylvia Plath, Robert Lowell, Lucille Clifton, and a sampling of newer writers, complete writing exercises, and finish the day with drafts of new work.

*MWPA and PRINT bookstore welcome Teicher for a reading and celebration of his new essay collection on February 1. More info HERE.
