Writing a memoir is the process of finding story shape, significance, and meaning in the apparently random and formless stories of our lives: Story shapes our existence into something meaningful, turning what otherwise appears to be chaos into a narrative with an arc rising toward a moment of understanding.
In this workshop, attendees will mine the material of significant moments of their lives, moments that linger in the mind with a certain luminosity and demand to be reckoned with. Using material generated from short, focused writing prompts, attendees will work toward developing longer pieces that use elements present in both fiction and memoir—such as significant detail, character development, setting, voice, and story shape.
+ TWO SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE This workshop is co-sponsored by the Auburn Public Library; the MWPA is proud to offer one full scholarship to this workshop for an Auburn Public Library patron, as well as one full scholarship for members-only. Scholarships are awarded on a combination of need and merit. Application Due in the MWPA office on February 19 at 9:00 a.m. → MORE INFORMATION
